Nature is a key pillar of IFF’s expertise and strategy. Not only are we the biggest buyer of natural products in the world, we continually search for innovative new methods to capture the essences of naturals and turn them into exciting and beneficial fragrance experiences for consumers.
  • Our Laboratoire Monique Rémy in Grasse, France, is key to this work. The most prestigious natural products research facility in the world, LMR offers 35 years of experience understanding natural products and perfecting the process of transforming naturals, such as narcissus, jasmine, the blackcurrant bud, and hundreds more, into pure absolutes that retain the unique fragrance of their country of origin. LMR’s total control of the process from field to extraction to distillation ensures absolutes of incomparable quality.
  • Our hydroponic greenhouse, located in Union Beach, New Jersey, allows the continued development and discovery of new scents from plants that are grown using nutrient-enriched water instead of soil. Combined with our pioneering headspace technologies, these unique resources enable our scientists to capture the essences of living flowers and transform them into new molecules.

IFF’s consumer insight and marketing teams, including our BrandEmotionsTM agency, offer our customers a measurable edge in a challenging fragrance market by creating value for our clients’ brands. With consumer preferences changing almost overnight, IFF interprets trends, new product launches, market data, and consumer research, to bring new, exciting, and innovative solutions to our clients. We utilize our global resources to test fragrances before they go to market to help our customers understand the relationship between fragrance and user. But we also create cutting-edge niche fragrances for designers like Costume National and Comme des Garçons that capture the designers’ vision—and their loyal fans. The proof is our impressive number of top sellers: in 2005, thirteen of the 30 top-selling women’s and nine of the 30 top-selling men's prestige fragrances in the U.S. were created by IFF.
