FEMA is dedicated to supplying the American consumer a wide range of safe and wholesome flavors to enhance the appeal of foods, beverages, and drugs.

The members of the Fragrance Materials Association of the United States (FMA) include companies that invent and then manufacture mixtures of fragrance ingredients for use in a wide variety of products, as well as suppliers of those ingredients. Incorporated in the District of Columbia on November 15, 1979, as the successor organization to the Essential Oil Association of U.S.A., Inc. (EOA), FMA's primary service to the U.S. fragrance industry involves legislative and regulatory work on the industry's behalf. Its activities are closely coordinated with those of the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), which undertakes scientific research to support product safety for the industry worldwide.

The primary focus is the worldwide development and advancement of the fragrance industry. Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, Inc.
The Research Institute for Fragrance Materials, Inc. (RIFM) was formally chartered as a non-profit, international organization on April 12, 1966. Members represent companies supplying materials to the fragrance, toiletry, household products, and cosmetic industries. RIFM's primary objectives are to gather and analyze scientific data from the industry and the open literature, engage in the evaluation and testing of fragrance ingredients, and review and evaluate the standards and methods employed by the industry for testing on a continuous basis.

The European Flavour and Fragrance Association (EFFA) logoThe European Flavour and Fragrance Association (EFFA)
The European Flavour and Fragrance Association was founded in 1961 under Belgian law. Its original name "Bureau de Liaison des Syndicats Européens des Produits Aromatiques" was changed to EFFA in 1991. The founders were several national associations of the flavour and fragrance industry from countries of the European Community. The statutory purpose and function of EFFA is to represent the interests of the Member Associations and the global flavour and fragrance industry in all relevant forums--EU administrators and their scientific advisors, politicians, customer associations, the authorities, and professional bodies of the EU. This representation comprises, also through its affiliation to the International Organization of the Flavor Industry (IOFI) and the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), 95% of the total worldwide market.
