Our criteria for giving through the IFF Foundation include the following:
- We target initiatives with strong links to our business, our vision and our values
- We focus on the communities in which IFF has a significant presence
- We encourage and support our co-workers’ own charitable donations and volunteer activities
- We concentrate our contributions on a limited number of issues and organizations to maximize the impact of our efforts
- We carefully select the organizations we support, to ensure (1) our funding is spent in the manner we intend it to be spent and (2) our donations reach those who need them the most.
IFF’s core values, which include knowledge, integrity, creativity, innovation, customer service and the interests of our fellow co-workers are reflected in our primary giving categories.
Art and culture: IFF is in the business of enhancing the quality of life through the senses. Our commitment to artistic and cultural institutions is another way we aim to bring magic to our day-to-day experiences.
Civic and community service: IFF believes strongly in being an active and responsible member of the communities in which we live and operate. A significant percentage of our charitable contributions help support local civic efforts, particularly those that focus on women’s health issues.
Scientific research and education: IFF has maintained its industry leadership over the years by being a pioneer in scientific research and education. In addition to investing approximately 9% of our annual revenues in formal R&D, we actively support and partner with like-minded scientific and educational institutions – from botanical gardens to think tanks to universities – that will help us bring breakthrough products and technologies to our customers and consumers.
The environment: Preserving the environment and ensuring the sustainability of the resources upon which our industry relies are of paramount importance to IFF. We support initiatives that promote responsible, sustainable development of our natural resources.
Organizations the IFF Foundation funds must be designated as 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service and contributions must be tax-deductible.
Grants generally will not be made:
