Why Upcycled, Sugar-Beet Inositol

GENENCARE® OSMS MI is a sugar beet-derived inositol, upcycled from a side stream of sugar production. With IFF’s proprietary desugarization technology, more sugar can be extracted from sugar beet molasses, increasing the total sugar yield for sugar mills by 12%. The technology also yields a side stream of inositol-rich molasses, which is separated, purified and crystallized to extract pure inositol in crystalline powder form as GENENCARE® OSMS MI. This upcycling of a sugar-production side stream enhances resource efficiency without additional land use.
