In 2005, he joined Genencor (now part of IFF) as a sales manager, where he found a unique opportunity to combine scientific curiosity with customer collaboration. His journey has mirrored the evolution of the industry itself. In ethanol production, he\u2019s supported customers from plant start-ups to advanced optimization. In carbohydrate processing, he\u2019s seen a growing focus on efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We\u2019re helping customers find smarter ways to save energy and water\u2014without compromising performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across both industries, Bart and his team focus on identifying opportunities to reduce energy and water usage while enhancing productivity. Whether it\u2019s improving separation and evaporation steps or fine-tuning enzyme applications, the goal is always to deliver measurable value.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the key tools in this effort is the <strong>SWEETSPOT\u2122 ASPEN model<\/strong>, developed specifically for carbohydrate processing. This model helps visualize where energy and water savings can be achieved, guiding customers toward more sustainable and efficient operations.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cOver the years, we\u2019ve built deep expertise in both ethanol and carbohydrate processing,\u201d Bart explains. \u201cWith tools like SWEETSPOT\u2122, we can help our customers identify where they can improve productivity and reduce energy and water usage\u2014making their processes more efficient and sustainable.\u201d<\/em><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By combining lab-based testing, customer collaboration, and data-driven modeling, Bart\u2019s team ensures that innovations are both effective and low-risk.
