Community Impact

The IFF Cedar Rapids Community Relations team is committed to serving Cedar Rapids and the surrounding communities. The team focuses on Education, Civic, Socially Challenged, and Environmental needs by volunteering our time and resources. Every employee has the benefit of 4 paid hours of volunteer time. In 2022, employees replanted native grasses at Indian Creek Nature Center and trees in Cedar Rapids through the ReLeaf program. The ReLeaf program was designed so that tree plantings address climate concerns, preserve neighborhood character, and balance equity across neighborhoods.

"I have enjoyed my time here in Cedar Rapids. One of my favorite things about our facility is that we strive to develop our employees. We have promoted from within for most roles. In fact, 90% of our local leadership team started in an entry level role and worked their way up, including myself. I have been a team leader for 4 years now and I would say my favorite part is the daily interaction with the operators and finding ways to develop their skillsets and push them into a promotable position. As a team leader, I try to continue our long history of developing future leaders from within."

"I think the most important and enjoyable thing at IFF Cedar Rapids location is making connections and growing relationships with my coworkers. IFF Cedar Rapids pays for multiple events throughout the year for employee's and their families to get together. Whether we are enjoying a Kernels game, a rough riders match or playing in our Thursday night volleyball league. Not only does this offer us an opportunity to form friendships- this also makes us better employees."

"As a working mother and wife, at work the most important things for me are work life balance, family environment and growing professionally. IFF, Cedar Rapids location is the best organization I have worked so far where I get the best of all."

– Geetanjali Mahadik, Senior Application Associate

"I've been a process engineer at IFF for about 2 ½ years, and I really enjoy the complexity of the Cedar Rapids site. We make so many different enzymes, and to me, it's interesting to see all the final products we help make. The complexity also creates an environment where I'm challenged daily to develop ways to improve the process, and it's great to be able to troubleshoot and brainstorm new ideas with the operations team. The complexity also allows me access to a variety of different experiences within one site – learning new engineering skills, learning how to lead people, or learning the specifics of the business side."

– Abbie Kulhanek, Process Engineer
